Exam Policy for Online Courses

  1. Your examination room must be quiet, in an undisturbed location, with adequate space, lighting and ventilation.
  2. The area around your workstation must be cleared of all reference material other than the publications, books and notes that have been authorised by the invigilator.
  3. Your video and sound must remain 'live' throughout the exam and you must remain visible during the exam.
  4. You should not eat, drink, smoke or vape during the exam.
  5. Your telephonic devices must be switched off at the start of the exam and not switched back on until permission has been given by the invigilator.
  6. You must only use video conferencing ‘chat’ functionality to communicate with the invigilator.
  7. You must not communicate with other delegates, or any other person, other than the invigilator during the exam.
  8. You must not make any copy of the examination paper. Taking screenshots or photos of the screen during your exam paper is strictly prohibited.
  9. If you leave the virtual meeting you will not be able re-enter you will be held in the virtual waiting room until after the final delegate has completed or unless otherwise directed by the invigilator.
  10. You are under exam conditions until the last person has submitted their exam or otherwise directed by the invigilator.
  11. Once the exam is completed you should wait for further instructions from the invigilator.
  12. If you are unable to adhere to any of these instructions, or persistently ignore reasonable instructions given by the invigilator, you will be removed from the examination.

How to approach the exam

  1. Read each question fully and make sure you answer the question as it has been written.
  2. For multiple choice questions, eliminate the wrong answers from the list to reduce the choices to get closer to the right answer.
  3. For free-text questions, note the action verb used and the marks available as this will indicate how much information you need to provide, and how many examples.
  4. Take your time and make use of the whole time available to you. 
  5. To make best use of your time, progress through the exam paper answering easier questions first.
  6. Bookmark any more challenging questions and return to them.
  7. Refrain from changing answers unless you know the answer you have given is incorrect. 
  8. If you are unsure of the answer, consider the topic of the question to guide you to find the answer in any reference material you are permitted to use. 
  9. Leave time to review your answers. 
  10. Submit your answer paper once you have answered all questions.

Exam Resit Policy

Am I eligible?

  1. You must passed the trainer review. Please speak to you tutor about this, and
  2. For TWCTC and TWCTC Refresher, you must have scored at least 63%, or
  3. For TWSTC, you must have scored at least 60%

HOW LONG TO i GET TO BOOK AN EXAM RESIT?

If you are eligible, you must attend you exam resit within 30 days of completing your original exam. 

HOW WILL I COMPLETE THE RESIT?

You will usually join a 'live' course on the final day at exam time, or you may be able to attend on a specific date organised with your training provider or us. 

WHEN SHOULD I JOIN?

Please be available from the time and place specified in your joining instructions. 


Online exams, are delivered via Microsoft Teams or Zoom. You can join the course via any internet browser and entering the meeting ID and password provided in your joining instructions. To help you prepare you should read our Online Learning Guide.


You will be provided an exam brief on entry and the exam will last up to 45 minutes. To help you prepare you should read our Exam Guide. 

WHAT CAN I DO TO PREPARE?

Once your exam resit has been booked you will be emailed exam resit instructions by your training provider. You should revise thoroughly completing workbooks and quizzes, using the publications provided during your course.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I DONT PASS THE RESIT?

You will need to complete the full course again. 

CAN I APPEAL AN ASSESSMENT DECISION?

Yes you can appeal an assessment decision made by your tutor and following your final exam.
