About this website

NEIL BOORMAN

In 1989, Neil joined the Corps of Royal Engineers, initially completing 2 years at the Army Apprentices College in Chepstow and becoming qualified as a mechanical engineer. Following graduation, I moved into civil and infrastructure engineering working in many operational environments worldwide in the role of site engineer, and construction and temporary works supervisor on various projects including construction, bridge and road construction, and water and power distribution.

In 2000, Neil joined the Royal School of Military Engineering at Camberley, Surrey as a construction engineering tutor, teaching trainee soldiers and officers concreting operations involving formwork design and build, bridge construction including Bailey Bridge and Mabey Bridge’s General Support Bridge, and excavation support. He became a qualified teacher during that time.

On leaving the Sappers in 2004, Neil became an operations manager for a Royal Engineer training team, developing apprenticeship schemes and construction engineering training courses for military engineers. He has also held various construction management roles, for projects in the City of London, and London boroughs, including temporary works advisor, temporary works coordinator, and designated individual for temporary works with Galliford Try, Linden Homes, Drew Smith, Berkeley Homes, Willmott Dixon, and Rydon Construction.

In 2017, Neil became a qualified and approved CITB temporary works tutor delivering training courses throughout the UK. Neil is a member of the Institute of Royal Engineers, Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, and Institute of Civil Engineers.
